Wreck-Tangle 6/4/13

Another great night of rock 'n' roll, punk and psychobilly at the Redhouse in Sheffield.
Although a little late to the venue I still managed to catch most of the first band Sempe Fi with their raw, punk fuelled set putting everyone in the mood for things to come.
Next up were local lads Steve and the Raise with some excellent old school psychobilly. I really enjoyed these guys and with be keeping an eye out for them in the future. Check out some of their songs here at Steve and the Raise Bandcamp.

Now onto the Zipheads and with due respect to all bands on the night these were one of the two I really wanted to see. I bought their eponymous mini album from The Zipheads Bandcamp a good while ago and played it to death. A great blend of rockabilly, punk and even a little ska went down a treat with everyone and served to demonstrate why the Zipheads a fast becoming a very popular band.

So to headliners Graveyard Johnnys. Punk attitude with a driving Rockabilly rhythm. These three hard working lads from South Wales have built a reputation for hard rocking music and a highly energetic performance. Off stage they are very sociable gents and were good enough to pose for a snapshot before rocking the Redhouse. Some songs from the current album such as 'The Wasted' and 'Cherylene' are obviously established favourites with everyone as is their blistering cover of 'Radar Love' which I reckon blows the original out of the water.
I cannot recommend these guys enough. Get to a gig if you can and go get a copy of their 2012 debut album "Songs From Better Days."
You can catch up with the Graveyard Johnnys at Reverbnation and Facebook.

Once again thanks to all involved in organising this event. See y'all in June for MojoKings.
